Digital print company, Shen Yuan Image, has credited the success of its Taopix Photobook platform as the contributory factor in the purchase of a second HP Indigo 5500 digital press.
The Shanghai-based company, a subsidiary of the Hang Zhou Daily newspaper group, has experienced unprecedented volumes in photo book orders since opening its doors in March of this year.
Its initial focus has been on the lucrative B2C market which it has targeted with a combination of newspaper and public transport advertising.
In the run up to June 1st Children’s Day, Shen Yuan Image hosted the contest “I’m a Little Painter” which encouraged children to turn their own scanned paintings into a photo album. Judges then awarded prizes to the winners. The interest in the contest was phenomenal with over 2500 orders placed within three days.
Says Mr Bai, General Manager of Shen Yuan: “Photo books are the most profitable products in digital printing now. With the help of Taopix, the consumer can easily DIY their own photo book. We’ve experienced massive expansion in a very short period, hence the need for the new press. We have received more than 6000 orders since our launch and the trend looks set to continue. I am confident that we have a winning combination with Taopix and HP Indigo and plan to open another branch in Nanjing within the coming months”.
The next step for Shen Yuan is to focus on the B2B2C market and their first partnership agreement has been signed with photo finishing company Zi Xing Image in Shanghai.
Adds Mr Bai: “Zi Xing Image is the largest photo finisher in the region with hundreds of branches in east Shanghai. We are planning to go to market with a range of new products which will appeal to Zi Xing’s vast customer base and provide important new revenue streams for both companies.”
Concludes Richard Watson, President for Taopix Asia: “Shen Yuan’s success is due to a number of factors; great marketing, a robust and easy-to-use software platform and a very high quality end product. When customers get this right, the figures speak for themselves. Due to increased internet usage, acceptance of e-commerce purchasing and a strong Taopix presence in China, we are experiencing unparalleled interest in photo books across Asia and forecast unprecedented growth in the region.”
