Gearing up for 2016

The events for Dscoop EMEA in 2015 may come to be seen as pivotal in the development of the organisation, and the programme for 2016 is set to build on them.

By Julian Marsh, Dscoop EMEA Board Chairman

Before reviewing the achievements of 2015 and what’s coming up in 2016, I want to focus on Dscoop 5 in Tel Aviv, 5-8 April, and encourage as many members as possible to attend what is shaping up to be a great event.

Our conference theme, “Connect to Grow,” represents the transformation of Dscoop as well as the graphic arts industry, reflecting the blurring of the traditional areas of operation. Digital printing technology gives us all the ability to move beyond our normal products and services and meet our customers’ needs for commercial, book, large-format, photo and other applications, as well as  labels, flexible packaging  and folding cartons.

The new Open Membership scheme gives all HP customers free  access to the wealth of Dscoop’s online content, which includes reports, forums, newsletters and other valuable business-building information. A the same time, the new Premium  Subscription option provides access to special offers and training, as well as a €100 discount on Dscoop 5, in Tel Aviv.

Why attend Dscoop EMEA 5 in Tel Aviv?

Anyone who has attended a Dscoop conference anywhere in the world already knows how rich – and profitable – the experience can be. This year, the Dscoop Showcase will be at  the HP campus Kiryat Gat and comprise 36,000m2 of the latest technologies from across the HP graphic arts range. It will also include offerings from more than 50 HP partners

Coming before drupa 2016, the Showcase will be a preview of HP’s plans and proposition – as well as those of its partners – and enable members to make more informed buying decisions when they get to Düsseldorf. Other reasons for attending Dscoop 5 include the opportunity to hear from industry experts, analysts, brands and executives who are specifying the innovations in our industry.

Meeting old friends and making new ones is part of the valuable networking that long-standing Dscoop members have enjoyed for years. The experience of making new business connections and sharing best practice is in itself worth attending for.

Building on Dscoop EMEA 4

Last June’s conference in Dublin had many highlights, but I’d like to mention in particular the launch of the Dscoop Young Entrepreneurs programme. This initiative is designed to enhance the participation of individuals under the age of 35, introduce them to each other, and provide a forum for discussion and training. This was followed up in November at the Duplo London Calling event when Adrian Peck ran a session on effective presenting and Jon Bailey (ProCo) and Jon Tolley (Prime Print Group) conducted a workshop to further extend the skills of the participants.

Also in November, Dscoop France held its second gathering at La Plaine Images, one of the major centres of creativity and the digital image, and an excellent location for the conference. Presentations of new business models and effective use of technologies were delivered by HP and market specialists.

Building on this incredibly successful event, 2016 will include the a series of local Dscoop chapters throughout Europe , Middle East and Africa. In fact, the first event of 2016 is the recently-formed Dscoop Germany’s Neujahrsempfang (New Year’s Reception) that will be held in Frankfurt on January 28. Aimed at promoting digital print in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, an exciting and informative programme of presentations, networking and pre-drupa activities is planned.

Why not make it a New Year’s resolution to participate in Dscoop, or increase your benefits from it; it could be the driver for a successful 2016.

I look forward to seeing you in Tel Aviv!
