Standard Finishing Systems Will Present Automated Post Press and Paper Handling Solutions at Dscoop

(ANDOVER, MA) – Standard Finishing Systems will present a range of automated post press and paper handling solutions in booth 642 at Dscoop San Antonio April 14-16. These include several Standard Horizon finishing solutions that perfectly complement HP Indigo digital presses by adding greater value for print service providers.

Finishing Flexibility At Dscoop San Antonio

Taking center stage in the Standard booth will be the recently introduced Standard Horizon SmartSlitter, an all-in-one smart sheet processing system that can slit, gutter cut, edge trim, cross-cut, perforate, and crease in a single pass. Designed for both offset and digitally printed output, the system comes equipped with print mark registration to accommodate image shift in both directions. And, in legendary Horizon style, the color touchscreen monitor features a simple user interface for easy operation including job setup via barcode. Various applications will be processed including direct mail pieces, business and greeting cards, and the unique skip perforation feature for T- and L-perfs will be highlighted during the production of tear-off coupons and reply cards.

Standard Horizon’s RD-4055 Rotary Die Cutter will also be producing a variety of unique applications including door hangers, pop-up business cards, stickers, labels, and pocket folders. The system can die-cut, kiss-cut, crease, perforate, slit, hole punch, and round corner in one process for digital and offset printed sheets, and can achieve up to 6,000 cycles/hour on sheet sizes up to 15.74” x 21.65”. A repeat register function allows multiple-up applications from a single-up die to minimize costs.

The Standard Horizon CRF-362 Creaser/Folder will also be featured to demonstrate creasing and folding of digital color output in one pass, with no cracking. The system can handle a wide range of coated, uncoated, or laminated stocks from 24 lb. bond to 16 pt. (and up to 18 pt. for creasing only) on sheets up to 14.33” x 34”. The CRF-362 comes configured with seven selectable fold patterns and six selectable cover creasing patterns for perfect binding. Capable of creasing and folding up to 5,000 sheets per hour, this solution will be producing restaurant menus, greeting cards, book covers, brochures, and other marketing collateral at the show.

The Standard Horizon SmartStacker will also be demonstrated in the HP booth, converting B2 size / 20” x 29” digitally printed sheets into up to 28 individual cut sheets, with intelligent accumulation, stacking, and end-to-end JDF control. The SmartStacker was developed in close cooperation with HP and will be running in-line with the B2-format HP Indigo 10000 Digital Press, but the system can also be operated near-line to serve multiple print sources with sheet feeding capability up to 4,500 B2 sheets per hour. The SmartStacker edge trims and gutter cuts for up to 7 sheets in one direction and four in the other for full bleed trimming. The system can deliver finished product such as posters or postcards, straight or offset stacked, individual sets or book blocks, or a bypass allows for in-line saddlestitching, perfect binding, or folding. By minimizing touchpoints and material handling, the SmartStacker streamlines production and lowers labor costs. The SmartStacker will be processing several applications at Dscoop that will then be run near-line on the Horizon SmartSlitter and RD-4055 Die Cutter.
