GPA is proud to announce the winners of their Sixth Annual Printed Sample Contest, which is designed to recognize outstanding work by GPA’s customers. Companies across the country submit their printed pieces on GPA substrates to compete in six product categories for Best of Category and Best of Show.
G2 Graphic Service of Southern California won Best of Show in the Ultra Film® Non-Adhesive Films category for their interactive makeup tutorial printed on White ClingZ® with Versaliner II. The ClingZ® sheets were printed, die and kiss cut, spiral bound to a folding base and sold in high-end makeup kits. The individual guide sheets can be placed on a mirror showing the pictured look, then cleanly removed and reattached to the backer sheet until the next use. G2’s customer selected ClingZ® for this project because it can be reused, it leaves no residue when removed, and for its compatibility with a variety of finishing processes. It offers the perfect blend of versatility and functionality, which enhanced the value of the product and helped the end user create a professional makeup experience at home.
The Best of Category winners are:
Ultra Bak® Plus and Ultra Bak® Classic Pressure Sensitive Papers – Fine Arts Engraving of Oklahoma
Ultra Film® Pressure Sensitive Films – Primary Color of Southern California
Ultra Digital® Papers – The Chest of Missouri
Ultra Digital® Films – The Chest of Missouri
Ultra Digital® Pressure Sensitive Papers – The F.P. Horak Company of Michigan
This year’s contest was judged by a panel of three industry experts: Sabine Lenz, founder of PaperSpecs, an independent, comprehensive paper database and resource; Howard Owen, President of Stafford Printing in Stafford, VA; and Michael Johnston, Principal at Top Graphics in Maryland Heights, MO and creator of the Print Trial Process. Entries were evaluated on uniqueness of design, number of substrates utilized, complexity of production, application use and quality of printing.
For a printed piece to be eligible, it must be from an actual job or promotion that was printed by a GPA customer on a qualified GPA substrate. This year, GPA reached a new record with over 100 submissions.
GPA’s Printed Sample Contest is a great opportunity for printers and end-users to showcase their best work and gain industry recognition. Each year the competition grows bigger and better, yielding new and unique examples of the opportunities available with GPA substrates.
