Even though it only launched last year, the Dscoop Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) user group has been growing fast and already boasts more 500 members. Peter van Teeseling, director of Dscoop EMEA, said the rapid expansion of its membership was down to one thing: the power of sharing ideas.
“Dscoop – short for Digital Solutions Cooperative – is an independent global community of HP Indigo and Scitex users. We organising forums, webinars, case studies and presentations to offer our members a broad online database of knowledge,” he said. “This year we will have our first Dscoop conference for the EMEA region. This event, called Print United, will take place on 8-9 November in Barcelona.”
Van Teeseling has more than 20 years of experience in the industry – starting out in traditional print, but moving into digital asset management and web-to-print and web-based solutions. Now a cross-media specialist, he sees Dscoop as a unique opportunity to share his passion for digital print.
“There is a lot of competitiveness going on in this industry. That often prevents people and businesses sharing know-how. They think: what if my competitor steals my ideas? At Dscoop we like to quote George Bernhard Shaw to answer that question: ‘If you have an apple and I have an apple, and we exchange apples then you and I will still each have one apple. But if you have an idea and I have an idea and we exchange these ideas, then each of us will have two ideas.’”
