Gene Fischer, founder of Marketing Support Services (MSS), recently received the coveted Silver Medal Award from the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Cincinnati. The award honors individuals who have made exceptional contributions to the company, community and profession, and have advanced the industry’s standards for creative excellence and responsibility in areas of social concern. For more than 50 years, Fischer dedicated his life to the worlds of advertising, publising and direct mail. In 1987, he started MSS in the basement of his home. Four expansions later, they moved into their present hub facility with nearly 100,000 square feet of office, processing and warehousing space.
Today, MSS employs more than 60 people with traditional assembly and mailing, as well as Web-based fulfillment, digital printing, print-on-demand, database management, a call center, and other services supporting the savvy marketing professional. The company also has a green initiative that reduces its carbon footprint in an effort to protect natural resources.
Fischer retired from the company in 1998, and since then, he has participated in a number of organizations as a board member and president. Presently, his son Greg owns and operates MSS.
Greg said, “Gene’s unwavering commitment to always listen to our customers' needs has allowed MSS to evolve year after year. Five years ago, our customers were looking for a way to reduce waste. MSS responded by entering the digital print arena. Our Print on Demand solution now includes our Marketing On Demand option for printing and mailing via our online MOD portal. Our Global Print Partnership allows MSS to print on demand in 13 different countries around the globe. None of this would have been possible without Gene’s vision for a nimble company that responds quickly to the ever-changing marketplace.”
